VALENTINES DAY WEDDING

Your Valentine’s Day Wedding color palette isn’t limited to pink and red! Bring in some blues, greens and other unexpected colors!

There are few days on the calendar that provide the sentimental backdrop for a wedding as Valentine’s Day. The theme is a given for such a holiday celebration – love!  With the world full of shabby and oh-so-not chic holiday decorations, how does one pull off sophisticated Valentine’s Day weddings?

Start with adding your own palette to the traditional red and pink!  For high sophistication, add black tones to your bright red or pink.  Searching for the perfect pigment for a romantic revelry?  Try all shades blush!  Don’t be afraid to add in a pop of unexpected color as well; many Valentine’s Day brides are pulling icy blues, navy, and marsala and loving it!

Consider creating an intimate affair using candles in various sizes and decorative vases for a touch of sparkle.  Want something a bit more industrial?  Many crafting stores and specialty shops sell tin light-up letters now; these are perfect for displaying your married monograph or a simple, “Love.”

The wedding altar can be trimmed with greenery or other material in a heart shape. An elegant element of décor could feature small photographs of the couple in heart-shaped frames in different sizes.

Soft greenery like Dusty Miller makes blush colors pop!

When considering floral choices for your sophisticated Valentine’s Day wedding, veer away from the expected pink and red roses.  In addition to benefitting your wedding budget, adding offbeat flowers will enhance the “you factor” of your affair.  Try Juliet garden roses, stunning anemones, or dainty tea roses.  Going the blush route?  Accent your bouquet with dusty miller; this leafy plant will add softness to your greenery.

Think outside the rose box with your flower girls as well.  Have your little helpers sprinkle petals in an array of colors, or tissue hearts in your wedding colors.  Want to really up the “love” factor?  Have them sprinkle little slips of paper with your favorite love quotes down the aisle.

Oh so sweet: Tasteful Valentine’s Day Wedding

Hearts, arrows, and other traditional Valentine’s Day décor are being used to decorate cakes in the most fun and unexpected ways.

Add a little something sweet to the mix with the number one Valentine’s Day candy; chocolate! A chocolate fountain station will be a hit for guests to indulge. Add a fun touch by having small bags of colorful candy hearts, you know the ones with the sweet sayings imprinted like “Marry Me.” Guests can compare which ones they received and even pass to their sweetheart.

The grand finale of all things sweet will be the wedding cake. Gone are the days of the standard white fondant cake with red roses.  Trendy brides are now infusing “chalk board” sections into their cake with their favorite love quotes or monograms.  Hearts, arrows, and other traditional Valentine’s Day décor are being used to decorate cakes in the most fun and unexpected ways as well.  Be sure to check out our Pinterest board to see these exciting designs and more.
